State-Level Consultative Workshop on Administrative Data for Governance

DPIC team participated in an internal consultative workshop on Using Administrative Data for Governance: Harmonising Departmental Data at State Level, organised by the Directorate of Economics & Statistics and the Planning & Convergence Department, Government of Odisha. The workshop brought together senior officials from thirteen-line departments to deliberate on strengthening administrative data systems and advancing cross-departmental data integration, as a state-level preparatory exercise ahead of the National Deliberative Summit on Data for Development.

Dr. Urmila Chatterjee, Executive Director, DPIC, shared the Centre’s experience in building data capabilities across line departments in Odisha, along with lessons learnt and reform pathways to address gaps in data governance, institutional capacity, and interoperability. The engagement reinforced the importance of strengthening administrative data systems for more integrated, evidence-based governance.
